les solides pieces are made to last. treat this piece with love just as you would treat any beloved person – it’ll stay with you forever. all pieces are made out of precious metals (such as silver, brass and gold). the gold pieces have been plated with the best quality. As a result, the pieces will keep their original colour even after years of wearing. Nevertheless delicate jewelry like fine chains or thin metal sheets can bend or break. therefore we would advise you to remove your jewelry while working with your hands and avoid contact with chemicals, chlorine or saltwater. In order to give your beloved piece of les solides jewelry a long life, we recommend that you remove your jewelry in the following circumstances:
- while taking a shower or washing your hands
- swimming
- application of lotion, perfume, oil handcreme, hairspray etc.
- cleaning with aggressive cleaning agents and other chemical substances
silver
all of our hoops, earrings, cuffs, bracelets and necklaces are made of sterling silver 925. it is a natural process of oxidation, that silver will get a blackish shadow after years of wearing or if it’s not stored right. you can easily remove the black shadow with toothpaste or baking soda. take an old toothbrush, a little bit of toothpaste or baking soda and simply brush it off and rinse with warm water. if none of that should work you can use silver cleaning supplies.
gold plated
les solides pieces have a thicker layer of gold plate the industry standard, and after the pieces are plated, a protective finish is added to prolong the life of the gold plate. the gold plated jewelry should hold it’s plating for years if you take proper care of your jewelry. the usual gold layer on jewelry is 1µ, we use 10µ to provide a much better quality. nevertheless i’ts not solid gold and the layer will wear off after years of wearing, depending on the friction the pieces are exposed to. jewelry cleaner should not be used on gold plated products. If the desired shine is no longer achieved, you can polish them a little with a soft cloth. If there would be a premature wear and tear, the les solides jewelry can simply be gold plated again (approx. CHF 30.-). In case of problems with the gold within the first 6 months, we will gold plate your piece of jewelry again for free.
brass
the gold plated rings are made of brass. your rings are not as protected as the jewelry on your ears or neck. to prevent early wear and tear we use brass. brass almost has the same colour as gold, so you won’t see scratches or chipped gold on your rings that much.
storage
les solides jewelry comes in a small box where you can store your jewellery or take it with you on your travels without damaging it. It is important that you don’t keep your jewelry in the bathroom, as the moisture will speed up the oxidation process.
leather goods
please remember that leather is a natural product and that it will gain on beauty with a patina evolving over long years of wear and use. colours may transfer onto clothes when using our pieces for the first couple of times. The stains will easily disappear when washed. To ensure that your bag will bring you long lasting joy please follow these care instructions: Use a damp cloth to clean dust or stains on pieces made of smooth leather. You can use a leather care product to keep it soft and flexible.
broken pieces
les solides products are made to last, nevertheless things may break after years of wearing. If this should be the case please get in touch with us and we will try to fix it again for you. If we can't fix it we will give you 20% off on your new purchase so you can find your new favourite piece.
replating service
through the use of much thicker gold plates and the covering with a protective layer, our pieces have a premium quality. If there would be a premature wear and tear, we will be happy to replate your worn les solides jewelry at a flat rate of CHF 30.– In case of problems with the gold plate within the first 6 months, we will gold plate your piece of jewelry again for free. please allow up to 2–3 weeks for the replating service. this service is only available within Switzerland.
